For Your Leisure Time....
Lynmouth and its sister village Lynton are located on the edge of the Exmoor National Park, home of red deer, wild ponies, Lorna Doone and Shelley. This is a land of incomparable variety and beauty, with over 600 miles of clearly marked footpaths and many riding stables that offer pony trekking on the moors.

Lynmouth is a picturesque harbour where the rivers of the East and West Lyn converge on the sea. The area is often referred to as "Little Switzerland" and offers superb countryside for walking. Short walks are clearly signposted and carefully maintained by the National Trust. One of the most popular follows the Lyn to Watersmeet, a Victorian fishing lodge and now a National Trust tea garden.
Other activities include river, pond, reservoir and sea fishing, horse riding over Exmoor, surfing and wave-skiing at Woolacombe and Croyde beaches and golf at Ilfracombe.

In summer Lynmouth is bustling with visitors, many of whom come just to take a ride on the remarkable water-operated cliff railway. This was built in 1890 and will take you on a breathtaking journey 600 feet up to the village of Lynton, which stands at the entrance to the famous Valley of Rocks, a unique geological formation whose coastal path offers spectacular views across the Bristol Channel.
